LOTR has way higher ratings on IMDB than Harry Potter. And IMDB ratings is rated on alot of ratings. If you think that Harry Potter is better then it is your opinion. But way more people think that LOTR is better, wich makes it better in general speeching.

I agree with Hukaiya, this is getting beyond ridiculous now.EVERYTHING is regarded to be "racism/discrimination" these days simply because people don´t know what it really stands for, this case is a perfect example of that.In fact, I shall use it as an example of pure ignorance or perhaps even incompetence in my social studies class, that these days, racism is what people wants it to be & not the true signification of it.Been ages since I read anything this stupid, I´ll tell you that.

I think you are right here. It does fit very with World War Two. Gondor was bascially overwhelmed like France was, and was making it's last stand. Rohan comes to the rescue (like Britain and the USA did). Not quite a perfect fit but then again it is a story:) Though like anything else you can read it any way you want to, and people will.

Quit arguing about which nerd universe is the best, babies. And agree on one thing: Aragorn is the sexiest man ever.

I may be wrong on this, but based on the time period Tolkein wrote LOTR in (WWII era) there are many parallels between the plot and the real war. For instance, Gondor and Rohan could very well be England and France, while Mordor could be Germany. Therefore, if you extend the metaphor to this speech, "men of the west" would represent the allied forces, fighting against the Nazis, rather than any modern day American superiority complex. Again, this is just my interpretation.

and even more than four! he spent his whole life creating middle earth, he has three 100% highly developed languages, he has many, many books (LOTR, Hobbit, Silmarillion, Children of Hurin, Book of lost tales 1 & 2, Unfinished Tales, adventures of Tom Bombadil, and more!) he is the greatest author of the century no doubt! |
