I work for a TV company in the UK and we're doing a Military Top 10 doc for the Discovery channel. We would like to use this footage in our documentary. Does anyone know how i can contact ColdWarWarriors or who owns the rights to this footage? All advice gratefully received!

Yes the U.S sites will all say that, but the numbers speak for themselves. It's not just dumb luck that the internal explosions stopped when the ammunition was removed from the crew compartment. That's why it was removed in the first place, the Russians realized that it wasn't the ammo around the hull that was causing the tank to explode, but the ammo that was being carried with the crew. It's much better to have less ammo and survive than to have more and die in a fiery explosion, they realized

im not sure to be honest because all other tank sites really say diffrent but idk

Sorry Curtis but that's simply not true. See a lot of people believe that, but what it actually is that caused all the internal explosions was the fact that the Iraqi's would store all their spare ammo in the crew compartment, unprotected, which meant that pretty much all penetrations led to explosions. As I've said in a previous post addressed at you the T-72s in the 2nd Chechen war didn't have the ammo with the crew, and no tank during the war has suffered an internal explosion.

yes the kinectic energy alone would cause anyhting to explode on top of that, the explosian like usual the russian tanks ammuntion is stored around the hull so if you hit the turret KABOOM

T-72 has a 125mm Gun, and those shells were bouncing off the Abrams...my Yank math says 125 is bigger than 75. Its whats in the shell that counts. Depends on the penetrator and how its designed, there is a chance a 75mm shell if it was top of the line could damage any tank, but I really doubt a Italian 75mm from ww2 would be able to penetrate a modern tank at combat distances. Your 75mm armed tank wouldn't have the range to get close enough to a modern tank, even a T-72 would knock it out.

Ah now I understand, if he actually is missing then I know what he's doing. If he is dead however then... too bad.

So anyone still wanna say Soviet weapons are superior?

The Iraqi Commander of this battle is Major General Salah Aboud Mahmoud. He is not dead and he vanished after the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. His current whereabouts are unknown. |
