What is Master Spambot Buster:

This is a lovely script released by http://willmaster.com to combat a Spam Filled Internet. These guys needs to be applauded for releasing such a valuable script and making it free for the general public.

What does it do for you:

Master Spambot Buster stops robots harvesting email addresses from your web pages. But the script does more than that! It completely stops harvesting your email address from:

• newsletters,

• newsgroup postings,

• discussion list postings,

• instant messages,

• print ads,

• and any other document,

Instead of publishing your email address, you use the Master Spambot Buster method so that your email address is protected from everywhere and from all documents.

For e.g  Click Here To Email Me. This link contains no email address, no encoding, no encryption, no JavaScript! 

But if you click the link, your browser will cause your email program to open with a new email and with the correct email address pre-filled in — just as if the link was a mailto: link. (You can use the live control panel to see how the link is coded.)

How To Install Master Spambot Buster:  

Before you get jitters...let me assure you that I have successfully installed this super script simply by following the four steps given below. I an not a programmer and I do not know the head and tail of programming. But like you, I am interested in the end result of not being spammed and now I am enjoying reduced levels of Spams cluttering my mail box.

Just be with me and follow the instructions.

1. Make sure that the very first line of this script points to the location of perl on your server. ( Usually #!/usr/bin/perl )

2. Upload this script to your server into a directory allowed 
to run Perl CGI scripts (Usually cgi-bin). 

Use an FTP program and upload  the script as ASCII/plain text. You may get a fully functional 30 day trial version of Cute FTP to do this.

3. Give the uploaded script 755 permissions. 

Once the above three steps are done,

4. Now type the URL of this script into your browser. i.e.:
http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/msb.cgi

Important Note: Master Spambot Buster was built for Unix/Linux servers.

If you're running this script on a different server, two variables can be customized, $DataDirectory and $ME

$DataDirectory is at about line 84 and $ME at about line 108. (The line numbers may vary if this script had undergone changes.)
